Who We Are

September 5, 2011

UGF, the Uzbek-German Forum for Human Rights’, is a human rights organisation founded and established in Berlin in the summer of 2009. It is our aim to better the human rights situation in Uzbekistan and to strengthen and further civil society in the country.

What We Do

One of the main focal points of our work is the fight against forced child labour in Uzbekistan’s cotton sector. Year after year the Uzbek government systematically forces children to labour in the fields picking cotton during harvest season. The world public however, is barely aware of this grave human rights violation that is taking place in one of the worlds largest cotton exporting countries. Against this background we aim to raise awareness about the ongoing exploitation of children in Uzbekistan and working together with other European NGOs, will build strong awareness campaigns to inform the public about the ongoing and systematic forced child labor in Uzbekistan’s cotton industry.
